Beats & Roots is the new Vegan and Vegetarian Cafe in the Buttermarket. The cafe opened early April 2019 and offers delicious food from 8 am through til 4 pm from Wednesday to Saturday every week. The cafe is a new venture from Paul Leatherbarrow & Ben Read.
Paul Leatherbarrow and Ben Read
Paul has built a strong reputation as a fantastic chef who is known from such popular Cornish food venues as Miss Peapods, The Mount Pleasant Eco Park and The Saracen Plate. He is now bringing his formidable talent to the centre of Redruth. He is joining up with Ben, former owner of the much loved Melting Pot Cafe at Krowji, to bring this exciting new veggie cafe to the Buttermarket in Redruth town centre.
Jan Driver, speaking on behalf of Redruth Revival CIC who own the Buttermarket, says: ‘We are delighted to welcome Ben & Paul to the Buttermarket. Beats & Roots hits exactly the right note for this iconic location. We look forward to working with them to grow the Buttermarket as a thriving community space.’
Ben Read says: ‘Beats and Roots Cafe is proud to be based in the beautiful Buttermarket. Working closely with Redruth Revival C.I.C we are keen to find lots of lovely activities to breathe new life into this historical corner of the town centre.’
Vegan and Vegetarian Options
The imaginative and delicious menu offers both vegetarian and vegan options. This is just a taster of many of the irresistible delights on offer, and with a regularly updated menu you’ll want to go back time and again.
Food service starts with breakfast from 8 am.
Fantastic coffee, breakfast smoothies, yummy things on toast like smashed avocado, grilled field mushrooms, eggs and halloumi are a great start to the day. Check out the menu for your favourites!
Lunchtime soups, salads, and sandwiches can be eaten at the tables in the courtyard or are available to take away including the ‘Ambridge Special’ – a soup and sandwich off your choice.
Events and Evening Specials
Ben and Paul plan to run a number of events throughout the year, and invite you to share ideas with them. Ben says: ‘If you have any ideas for any events, themed market days, arts and craft workshops, performances, etc and you would like to work with us then please come along to the cafe and have a chat or message us through our Facebook Page. We’re here from 8 til 4pm from Wednesday to Saturday. ‘
Meet up with friends
From breakfast through morning coffee, lunch and an afternoon cuppa, Beats & Roots is a great place to meet up with friends. The Buttermarket is close to the station and to the centre of town. There is plenty of seating in the sunshine and undercover.
Why not sit here with a coffee and cake and enjoy being in the historic heart of Redruth?
